About us

Why…?

This all started with a personal need. I needed a way to keep track of what I own and where I put it. And the planned relocation was a good point in time to do it. Just filling a spreadsheet would work but be slow and tedious. And since I did not like the existing options, I started programming my own app, for my own needs: Containd

This app is my attempt to finally get organized at all. While there are working existing methods, Marie Kondo’s method did not quite appeal to my collectors heart. I want to keep my stuff. Even if I have to put it in storage.

But putting things in storage without documentinng it basically means you will loose track of them and you could maybe get rid of them after all.

So there we are. An app for personal inventory management, Containd, is what I went with.

My PhD is certainly not in tidiness. Protective mechanical ventilation, actually.

You may notice a clear trend in the apps of not looking too great and having a LOT of features… I believe that to be normal for an Engineer, and I would appreciate your feedback to overcome any issues the apps still have.

Our goals

Worst case, we will end up with a nice organization app for our own use.

Best case we can give you the maximum amount of value anyone could ever get out of an “app for personal inventory”. That includes things like fast software supported inventorization, personal things like visual inventory building and planned things like device integration for labelling and physical object tracking.

But at this time we are completely open regarding what users may see as valuable features. Anything is possible.
